Lionsgate Inks Deal With AI Firm to Mine Its Massive Film and TV Library

The deal will see Runway train a new AI model on Lionsgate's film and TV library as the entertainment company uses the tech "to develop cutting-edge, capital-efficient content creation opportunities."

This is basically what the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Matrix films were.

These have got to be the most shortsighted deals ever made.

I hope this goes as well as 3D and that very brief HFR attempt.

Nothing in the article about how much money the studio got (just a lot of guff about how this is going to result in tools that might make filmmaking cheaper in the future) nor about whether the contracts that put those films in their library can possibly allow this (seems unlikely).

I mean, if any studio was going to jump head first into this, it was going to be Lionsgate
