Honestly I think part of the issue here is exactly that, if you are a person who worked very hard to perform at a high level in your given field, it’s very difficult to start a new discipline at square 1. When you’re used to being Very Good and In Control in your field, the disparity feels larger-

So top performers in particular fields can be more likely to feel like they deserve short cuts or like things should be easier for them somehow, because they’ve internalized that identity like “I am very good at what I do” rather than just “I am very good at my specialty field”
