Really, the student quiz bowl leaders have the hardest job at the conference and do a great job coming up with creative, fun questions each year. Thanks for a super fun event!

I think there’s more controversy over this bird quiz bowl than there was at the bird names discussion tonight. #AOS2024

Define your AOS generation. Mine is: Young enough to believe in bird names for birds. Old enough to know Pokémon do not belong in the bird quiz because they are not birds. I said what I said.

Checking into the YMCA at Estes Park for the AOS: Staff: so, we have wildlife- Me: I know not to go anywhere near male elk in breeding season. I used to live in Montana & we’d watch the tourists nearly get themselves killed by the elk on the regular. Staff: (sighs) yeah, I do that every day here

Yeah the alternative would have been truly terrible.

My plane reading on my way to AOS. I may be the last birder/ornithologist to read this, but it’s wonderful. I cried and laughed out loud on the plane. So excited for the AOS keynote talk by Christian Cooper!

The book Better Living Through Birding: Notes from a Black Man in the Natural World by Christian Cooper

Hmm, I see your point. But also you need datapoints with little to no consumption.
