This is inspiration and something Hasbro should have marketed than a crystal castle. This makes the Tree of Harmony connection much more sense.

As a paranormal enthusiast, renovating a home releases a lot of residual energy and can empower the ghost. This usually causes them to get angry and such. You'd want to sage the house and get rid of negative energy once you renovate a well known haunted place.
