Absolutely. I'm guilty of it myself. I told myself for years that I was just "staying informed," but it had become an obsession. Only very recently did I start asking, "Does my life change by me knowing? What else could I be doing right now?". This stuff feeds depression so you gotta be careful
I think not enough ppl realize their mental health needs to come first when it involves "staying informed". Taking in the vast sea of human suffering on a day to day basis is not healthy. It can feel selfish, but sometimes you have to limit your information consumption, lest it consumes you.
