I have not spent the last 2.5 months trying to get a stupid prior authorization (to add insult to injury, it’s for a medication I am paying for out of my own pocket because I haven’t met my deductible yet) for someone to say that we don’t have rationed care. My ass.
I live in a senior citizen Mecca; lots of hospitals & medical care. I can name several specialists with at least a 6-month waiting list. My S-I-L, w/literally two (good*)insurance policies, waited months, in severe pain, for a necessary back surgery. Things are not okay.
Our care is so rationed that they have AI algorithms, supposedly overseen by “doctors” who aren’t practicing because they have too many malpractice suits against them to be hired anywhere, telling us what we can’t have.
My cousin has been waiting weeks for a stent. Just got his appointment.
I had a crisis emergency room visit at the end of March. My follow-up with a specialist is urgent and important. They offered me a February 2025 appointment.
Former PBM person here - if you think there’s any help I can offer hit me up.
I just got denied one seizure medication (Onfi) and put on another (Vimpat) because insurance didn't want to pay for it. My doc thinks Onfi will fix me, seizure FREE. A month the fight now, AND Vimpat causes hallucinations to boot. #FuckCapitalism#FuckInsurance#UniversalHealthcareNOW
