Children aren’t the property of their parents. They’re their own people. Yes, parents should make sure their kids are secure and safe. But telling kids that they…can’t exist as themselves? That’s not a parental right.
Kids should, in fact, have increasing rights to privacy and the ability to determine their future as they age.
Telling them they can’t be vaccinated against preventable disease is right up there too. And fuck religious exemptions . No god worthy of the name wants sickly or dead followers. Again, the desired right is child abuse.
Parental rights groups have always been bullshit. It's never helped children, they just want the power to take rights away from others, including other parents, kids, teachers etc. None of these people actually care about kids. They're just power hungry ghouls that use them as a prop.
Parents have responsibilities toward their children. They do not have rights *over* their children.
Children are their own people - the simplest and most fundamental rule.
