As someone who watched the Twin Towers collapse in my 10th grade World History class & graduated college into the greatest recession since the Great Depression, I also simply do not buy Haidt's rosy mischaracterization of Millennial mental health against Gen Z's apparent social media-driven anxiety.
My otherwise secular parents, who only went to religious services on Christmas, took us all to church on Wednesday, September 12th.
My teenaged daughter met a friend at work in NYC who said social media was how she held on through high school in a small rural area where queer kids weren’t accepted. Blaming social media so reductive and lazy.
