Unfortunately it plays to the narrative that people have been fed all their lives. Humans are prone to scapegoating, and capitalism has worked hard to brainwash people into believing the rich “earned” their vast inherited wealth. The only consolation is that class consciousness is increasing.

George Carlin has a great quote that is poignant for this which I may be paraphrasing a little: "That's why it's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe in it."
