My friend feels an obligation to defend Israel. I can understand how, as one of very few Jewish families in my town, they may feel defending Israel is synonymous with defending themselves … but Israel’s intentional attacks on journalists and civilians are indefensible.

It’s worth remembering too that, while they’ve ramped up over the last year, Israel has *always* been bad about killing journalists. Occupied Palestine is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. The IDF are a bunch of fucking monsters.
