This is smart! Can't believe I'm just now seeing this connection. The Court's continued narrowing of corruption ("gratuities v bribes", "only clear quid pro quo") makes so much more sense when you consider SCOTUS's massive undeclared gifts. Self reinforcing decisions!

This is the Constitution I grew up with, and believed in, and made our documentary about. One that as amended allowed the citizens of this country to constantly work towards a "more perfect union." But as it turns out, this was an interregnum, an anomaly. The Second Founding is again being erased.
