I wish econ-dorks understood that when someone faces job loss, or is evicted, or gets their heat cut, or loses a home they loved because they can't keep up with rent or bills that it creates a wound. It's trauma and that person might not ever feel safe again no matter what the numbers say.

On the other hand I think a faction comfortable people don't think the economy is doing well if they don't hear nonstop good news about the stock market.

People aren't pessimistic about the economy because they're just too stupid to know better. It's not a factual issue so there's not a factual solution. It's about safety, there are still fresh traumas from the pandemic and end of pandemic programs and once it's happened to you, you know it can again
