I think everyone knows there aren't any great options but it is instrumentally useful (in a good way!) to generate excitement about the least bad option, a mini-primary. It will be be messy and uncomfortable but in the end you're more likely to get a better candidate.

By "mini-primary" you mean "beauty pageant", because, after all, voters would have literally no say in the process or in the outcome. Seems Not Great to throw out Democracy like that!

There’s no precedent for that and the relevant figures would not consent to it either. A cool suggestion, but just not possible.

Only option is to stay with Biden-Harris. A brokered convention would be disastrous. Democrats need to stop focusing on Biden’s age and talk about his policies because they are awesome!

It's easy to be a pessimistic and you'll probably be proven right in the end, but I don't think it's a helpful way to maximize the chances of a good outcome.

Also - prediction markets are 100% ass. Basically it's the judgment of dilettantes with $ pooled together. Besides the fact that it's elitist and classist, it's also the easiest indicator to manipulate. The Romney pools were still giving him almost even odds up until the day of the election /1

I don't know what you actually do for a day job. Clearly it *ISN'T* organizing, talking to, or working with every day voters. A "mini-primary" is NOT the 'least bad option'. It's a ridiculous idea because it disenfranchises everyone who has voted for Biden in the primaries. Not just that /1
