It can feel hard to figure out what's real and what's not online, and this has become more relevant in the age of AI and X. What's the first thing most people do when they see news they're not sure about? They search for it, generally on Google. It turns out that may not help as much as we think. 2/
In our study, participants were recruited online for a series of five experiments in which they were asked to evaluate the veracity of popular news articles, some true and some false. 3/
