When I don't like the new cocktail my husband has decided to experiment with (usually gin-based 😬), it just means that we each get our own different ones instead of sharing one. 😂

What a lovely October day for sitting in a hammock to read. Even have my cozy reading buddy for company (when he's not barking at people out for a nice fall stroll).

Big white fluffy dog sitting next to hammock doing neighborhood watch duty. Edge of hammock is visible, with Naomi Novik's Buried Deep short story collection on it.
Beyond the foot of the hammock, a big oak (?) tree is getting some of its fall coloring. Some red-orange of a fully colored maple visible beyond it.

I always forget that "quilt reasons" are a totally normal explanation for being in Lancaster. When I'm there, I'm visiting family and never have time for quilt-related-shenanigans.

Hamlet Update (Went with Kenneth Branagh. Will be watching parts of others too): Between notetaking breaks and rewinding to absorb things (it had been a while since I'd seen any Shakespeare. Took a bit to get back into the swing of it), it's taken 5 hrs to watch the first 2.5 hrs of the movie. 😬

Probably quite a bit, though I imagine there are licensing hoops to jump through for it. We'll definitely be doing a farmstand thing of some sort next year if the garden repeats this year's patterns.

Yep. Sounds very familiar. We kept up with them for a week or two, and have been freezing and giving away the majority since. I've become very glad that our basement fridges freezer space wasn't being used previously. We've also learned that beans do great in the garden barter circles 😁

Freezer full of packed frozen green beans.

I assume this is how my husband feels about me walking in from the garden with yet another big bowl of green beans (we're very close to having harvested 100lb this summer) Chicken of the woods sound like an even more fun thing to have too many of.

For sure. The sweet moments are lovely, and it's a joy to watch them learn and grow and become their own people. But also...tiring 😅 The contrasts are really something.

So very tiring.
