It feels like a lot of people, particularly left-leaning Americans, have decided based on this that the UK is the epicentre of transphobia as a whole and I mean, not to get too petty about it, but there are few countries I’m less willing to accept that line of thinking from than the US

Maybe I’m misunderstanding something, but the idea of the UK as ‘TERF Island’ is because many of the big names of that specific brand of feminist aesthetic transphobia are from here, and have captured left-leaning media personalities in a way that hasn’t happened to the same extent in the US

It feels like a lot of the reason for the current discourse around the phrase “TERF Island” is that a lot of people seem to have extrapolated it into “Transphobe Island”. Tbh more broadly, lots of people now seem to use TERF as completely interchangeable with transphobe, which baffles me.

You're onto something here though, maybe we can give it to fracking advocates as like nicotine patches to help wean them off the addiction

One of the fun things about tutoring Welsh is that (surprise, surprise) it's mostly people living in Wales, which means sometimes when they complain about the weather I get to be like "lol sucks for u xxx" while basking in the clear skies of Edinburgh

(for those of you not Edinburgh-pilled enough to get it, it's controversially part of one of the new tram routes the council wants to build. Lots of people are very angry about this. Personally I think it's much more sensible to put along there than digging up the road but it would be a shame still)

Just cycled along the Roseburn path for the first time. I look forward to many more decades of cycling along this path without anything ever happening to it

I already know Edinburgh uni is full of Americans but if I didn't then I definitely would now from all the ads I'm getting and leaflets I see around the uni and tables of guys trying to help people register to vote

I genuinely do not understand this mindset. Even if I didn't have a personal investment in this stuff i don't see why I'd particularly give a shit that people are trying to keep their language going?

www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIeE... I want everyone to know, there actually was a Frasier/Star Trek Voyager Crossover (Kelsey Grammer was supposed to be the Captain, but he was in Rehab and they said "Fuck it, Get Kate Mulgrew in here." Probably for the best anyway.)
