Ariel to the rescue with empirics! About 25% of people don't know that their vote is secret, and about 40% think that politicians/cops/etc could find out who people voted for if they wanted to (!!).

Women are posting sticky notes in bathrooms telling other women that their vote is private and their husbands can't find out who they voted for. Would be great if we had actual survey data on whether people know their vote is private. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

Word about the grassroots campaign has spread on social media, primarily on Facebook, with women putting "Woman to woman" notes in places where other women will see them.

Love it. (I kind of want the sweater with or without the stitching). It's been a long time since I was any good with needle and thread, but my college student embroiders her clothes all the time, so maybe I'll put her on this project...

Oh Carolyn, that is so cute. I am guessing you made it, but if you didn't, I need the link!

There are definitely big problems with the medicalization of labor, including those you describe here! I’m sorry that happened to you. I just worry that things like shaming women for taking anesthesia reflects some misogynist ideas about how good mothers suffer.

This drove me nuts when I was pregnant. Yes, women have been doing this for eons but also pregnancy was a leading cause of death among women for those same eons.
