I loved the epithet on the title page of Green Dot by Madeline Gray. 💙📚 Have now discovered Hera Lindsay Bird as a result

I am falling in love and I don't know what to do about it
Throw me in a haunted wheelbarrow and set me on fire

Hera Lindsay Bird, 'Monica'

October 19th. The Funeral of Mrs Drablow. A published illustration from The Woman in Black and Other Ghost Stories written by Susan Hill and published by Vintage Classics.

An illustration of a woman wearing a black funeral dress. She is standing in a graveyard at an open grave, there are many headstones and an old church in the background. A Yew tree hangs over the headstones on the left of the image and a slash of grey sky at the top of the illustration. In the far distance weak sunlight reflects on an estuary. A feeling of sadness, bleak and atmospheric. A haunting.

Hot movie take: Predator is the better movie but Predator 2 kicks ass because Danny Glover is the superior action hero I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL

I'm the same! Always polite until they start to shill their wares, then the block hammer descends...

It's Friday! You've made it through the week. You deserve an eel. don't you? Come on...don't be shy. You know you do. Go ahead...take one from the tub. You've earned it.

Excerpt from an early modern alphabet primer for the letter E. There is an uppercase E in the upper left corner, and a lowercase e in the upper right. Along the top, between these letter, it reads: "Eel, live Eels."

Below this is a black and white drawing of a woman (we'll call her Evoxagret), sitting in front of a large wicker basket, handing an eel to a small girl. The woman is perched on a stool of some sort, and has a scale in her hand for weighing out eels. she has a hat, and an apron, and a shirt with what might be polkadots. Or they might be little ladybugs (except she's English, so they're probably ladybirds). She has a somewhat smug smile on her face; as smug as eels, really.

The girl (we'll call her Jesmerolda) is holding a basket in her right hand, and is reaching out for the eel with her left. Odds are she's gonna pop the eel in the basket, and hope it doesn't slither out. She's wearing a plain dress and a hat or bonnet and little black shoes. Eel-gettin' togs.

Prepare yourself for the greatest grave inscription you'll ever see.

A photo of a metal plaque on a gravestone in Shetland, which replicates the text carved into the stone but eroded by the elements. It reads:

DONALD ROBERTSON, born 14th January 1785. died 4th June 1843 aged 63 years

He was a peaceable, quiet man and to all appearance a sincere Christian.

His death was much regretted which was caused by the stupidity of Laurence Tulloch in Clothister (Sullom) who sold him nitre instead of Epsom salts by which he was killed in the space of 5 hours after taking a dose of it.
