It's not really a problem when you unlock trains and even tractors Alo Satisfactory is different from Factorio, the permanent nodes make it so you're encouraged to build many small factories instead of a central main one. Just build near the nodes.

That was my initial strategy at first. Then as the phases went on, it got unbearably messy. Not talking spaghetti. It's that halfway point between things being organized and pasta, but you KNOW it could be improved. But currently right now, the desert is being covered in concrete almost 40m above.

Also for this early in the game it's easy to find a starting spot with Iron, Copper and Limestone nodes near each other, at this point you CAN and should have a "main factory", you only really need start branching out at around Phases 2-3 and transport large quantities of stuff at around Phases 3-4
