Looking at the reference to people being elevated to ministerial roles without serving their time in the back benches, I suspect the story behind the story here is that Rosie Duffield either expected or demanded a front bench role. If thisis the case, it would recontextualise the rest of the letter.

Well, I rinse the dishes, but then I asked someone else British, and apparently they were not _raised rinsing_.

An American friend messaged me to ask if British people rinsed the soap off their dishes when washing up, and I thought it was a ridiculous question right up until the moment I found out that it wasn't.
