I like how the SNES cover for Ultima: The Black Gate makes me think the designer went "well if it's a gate, it's gotta have its keys right?"
I ended up playing quite a bit of Monster Party as recommended by @alexanderhad1.bsky.social, it definitely was something, too bad the game gets really frustrating by the final levels. But the fried tempura/onion ring monster? Lovely.

It's spooptober again, and I'm busy writing about early survival horror stuff. Perfect time to look back at how it is still possible to appreciate the mechanics of what has often been called one of the worst horror games of the 80s, right? (and no, it's not the NES game).
