Yesterday, I received a book I ordered online. It turns out it belonged to one of my favorite authors, Richard Lamb. I've bought his book War in Italy three times—once for myself and twice for friends. It might be silly, but I feel like I won some sort of (nerdy) lottery. #MilHis

I once popped into Blackwells in Oxford and bought a book I’d been after, on the history of my college. Got home & realised it was from the effects of my recently-passed away tutor, the Rev HEJ Cowdrey. Needless to say, it’s *very* well looked after (more an eternal loan than a purchase)…

At one time, all historians had addresses like 'Knighton Manor'.

I'll have to add 'War in Italy' to my to-read list then.
