There's a shortage of downsize housing as well. It took an absurd amount of time to find a place for my folks that was on on one floor, and it's still 3 bed, 2 bath. If a little cottage goes on the market, it's likely destined for a tear down.

(Admittedly, they moved out of a 4-5 bed, 4 bath place, but it was also a 3-2 when they moved in 50 years ago) (also on on = all on)

Absolutely. I’m 58 and already thinking about this. I’d love to be able to move to a smaller place in a few years, but affordability is very much up in the air.
