Interesting point but I think this applies more to consumer facing products than developer platforms. I remember reading about the Ethereum ICO on Hacker News and ignoring it because it felt too amorphous. Similar for Linux. Maybe open platforms and curated frontends are the way to go (AWS & Amazon)
