#Sharks have been leaving calling cards (their teeth) in our ocean for over 400 million years. Like this modern White Shark tooth which we just trawled up from over 3000m deep during our Ocean Census Bounty Trough expedition. Incrdible! 🦈

As ocean explorers we are lucky to be able to see areas of our planet that no human has ever seen before. The excitement is palpable as we dropped our towed cameras below 4000m deep today.

Mornings at sea are the best kind of mornings.

I can now reveal we are setting sail on an exciting expedition to explore the deep-sea environment of the Bounty Trough to the east of New Zealand! This incredible @oceancensus expedition is in partnership with NIWA and Te Papa and sailing aboard the RV Tangaroa.

It was fantastic to join Hector Toledo from the Angel Shark Project today for a great Encounter Edu Live Lesson all about #sharks!

It's amazing what a wide-angle camera lens will do!
