But messy! It's a little bit like Early Middle English, but with orthography and prescriptive teaching. We don't really want the inflections anymore, speakers are confused because we never stress them, but we also don't know how to do without them; only some dialects have found some good solutions.

I remember teaching German adjective paradigms for the first time and thinking what is this mess? Russian has loads of inflections, but at least they are distinct from each other not just the choice between a schwa and nothing.

Yes, it does sound awful. It's better now than it was 6 weeks ago -- I don't need a wet towel as a blanket in order to sleep at all, but it's still very annoying.

It's rashes and hives nearly all over my body. And I'm happy if the itching/prickling/stinging stops for an hour. It's not fun.and no chocolate or red wine allowed to help me cope😇
