I reread some Norton recently and enjoyed. Mostly scifi—Dark Piper holds up pretty well. But on the fantasy side, I do remember that The Jargoon Pard def has stuff about an ancient portal that SHOULD NOT BE OPENED.
I should also mention her epic scifi/fantasy Operation Time Search, which is just great stuff. Per Amazon: "full of sword fights, sea battles, intrigue, sorcery, heroic characters, evil enemies..." Besides time travel, the plot is driven by alternate timeline dynamics, with Atlantis fighting Mu!
