Thank you @statstas.bsky.social. Some people consider demography a discipline in its own right, but my degree was granted in a sociology department (and I taught soc for a few years) so I think I count as an honorary sociologist.

End of an era? Just published the final brief in the series on guidance for working with 2020 Census data products. For those who use the data, I hope the series is helpful. (Link in comments)

Screenshot of first page of brief. Title is "Disclosure Avoidance and the Supplemental Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (S-DHC): How PHSafe Works."

If memory serves, states and counties (but not places) get net migration estimates, too. But my covid-addled brain would need to double check that to be sure.

It's ACS data release day! Housing-related highlights from the 2023 1-year estimates include: 🔵 Housing costs rose between 2022 & 2023 for both homeowners and renters. 🔵 Nearly HALF of renters are cost-burdened. 🔵 In Florida, 1.2 million homeowners paid $4,000+ a year for homeowner’s insurance.

Nearly Half of Renter Households Are Cost-Burdened, Proportions Differ by Race

What?!?!? I had no idea. That seems... counterproductive.
