Seeing an uptick in quote posts for shaming purposes here, and that’s a Twitter practice that we used to shun. I’ll miss that BlueSky nicety when it gets killed forever.
I experienced my first BlueSky pile-on the other day. I dared to suggest that the US middle class practice of issuing toddler business cards to solicit play dates with their children’s medical status and family gun philosophy on was a bit weird. I got sworn at quite badly by many randoms.
I absolutely hate ‘dunking’ Like the posters are the ultimate arbiters of morality
At least those being dunked on can remove their posts unilaterally from said quotes without having to delete them entirely. It helps limit the effectiveness of the strategy quite a lot.
People can just detach quotes and it's done
So, the "you liked it when it was cool" phenomenon. I feel your pain. I'm here because Youtube cancelled all the journalists I was listening to, and they scattered everywhere. Time to put the "no algorithm, less fascism" motto to the test.
I just detach the posts when it happens. Then block the account that did it. That's something Twitter DOESN'T have.
Just keep shaming those people by saying "we don't do that here, go back to Twitter if you want to stay toxic." in their comments (express a good example). If multiple people do it then it becomes more effective. We have to fight for our community. Dm me a link if you see one and I'll back you. 👍
