Be mindful of your word counts. Novelettes are a *tough* sale. (Two in the past two years.) In my experience they tend to need a fair amount of trimming/TLC. Practically I'd lean to accepting two shorter stories over one long.
So show me your bag! Science fiction is especially grabbing me these days, bring me your new worlds and controversial tech. Well executed fantasy and unforgettable characters in any genre will always bump into higher rounds.
