This is an interesting thread. Unfortunately, there are a bunch of crazy people in America, and a ton of guns. There are frequent threats against politicians; most criminals are stupid and get caught before they act. That's what happened here, yet it got 48 hours of NATIONAL TRAGEDY AVERTED ink.
NYT, CNN, WaPo, and the rest are all vying for the position of State Media in the Trump Reich. I can't think of any other explanation; it's some sort of weird "pick me" thing going on.
Every time I say there was a guy who tried to flip trump's limo with a forklift while he was president, people say "wait what the fuck"
Journalism is yet another victim of Trump & his wannabe fascism. He lied & threatened & intimidated so much that he overwhelmed traditional journalists, and in turn they seemed to have become fatigued of it all, & quit attempting to cover & correct it. You likely have better insight about this.
Wondering when, I don't know, David Folkenflik or someone is finally going to cover the odd bias and sanewashing done by NPR/CNN/NYT/WaPo etc.
One good change is Dems/libs are not getting into a defensive crouch, even for a moment, by the bad faith Vance etc attacks that "your rhetoric caused this" or "turn the temp down." Nope. No late night shows changed tone, no Harris events postponed, etc. Rs & their gun "policy" caused this, the end
It's just very different than Butler, but the availability heuristic is powerful. Media and politicians who had reacted to a crazy near-miss on Trump reacted almost in the same way to a crank who never got close or fired his weapon.
It ate the ‘cats and dogs’ cycle that was battering them.
I liked Laura loomer wondering how this guy got a gun Because your party made it this way!
Why do Republicans keep trying to shoot Trump?
