Right - I've seen people who should know better (maybe I'm generous) asking how only Trump is ever targeted. There have been similar incompetent attempts to attack Harris and Biden. They just got "another kook foiled" coverage, not "God saved Trump from another bullet" coverage.

They likely also tell WH/press not to bring attention to these things to avoid copycat stuff

The fact that Trump keeps putting the Secret Service in difficult situations is an important discussion we should be having right now. Other officials and candidates don’t do that.

It’s because Republicans target schoolchildren in Springfield Ohio, who don’t have secret service protection. This isn’t rocket science.

I've heard unsubstantiated stories that Biden and Harris have been targeted in plots that weren't publicized. I also heard rumors that Trump (at least halfheartedly) tried to find someone to bump off prominent political figures in his impeachment hearing.

It would be terrible, of course, but strangely fitting if someone finally was successful because they knew they’d get wall to wall coverage by a sycophantic media in the aftermath and be remembered forever.
