This Norwegian ad is selling cabin lots with a picture of a felled tree stump with the slogan "Come to Hafjell. We have removed the forest so you can have an awesome view into the valley from your cabin" That's pretty extreme even in the Nordics. We don't appreciate the biosphere much. 😬

This. They are all human sacrifices, but the execution of a human being despite clear exonerating evidence or clear evidence of insufficient evidence of guilt is an open, acknowledged human sacrifice. One that our society finds it too easy to make when the human being in question is Black.
Marcellus Williams was a human being who felt and thought and communed and lived, and the United States of America ended that in a cold act of law. Weeping for that does no good, but how can we not? Abolish the death penalty.
