I love the 1944 movie The Uninvited. A ghost story, it takes place in Cornwall, in a haunted house overlooking the sea. It ends with the cast back lit by the sun, rising over the sea behind them. I don't know how many times I watched it before I realized the sun was rising in the west!

There are spots in Cornwall where you could see the rising sun over the water, but it’d be the Channel. And the story might well have ruled that out as a possibility.

In a similar vein, the Annie Lennox song for THE RETURN OF THE KING has a recurring refrain about "...across the sea, a pale moon rises, the ships have come to carry you home" — in a song whose very title is "Into the West".
