My ★★★★★ review of Trouble in Mind on Letterboxd boxd.it/7roQC9
It's two Jim Steinman songs away from being the alt-world punk noir masterpiece Streets of Fire wanted to be. 4/4
"A chicken plays the chimes" I MEAN, COME ON
The guest stars look like they're having a blast being totally confused by everything. Kristofferson has a permanent "I don't know what's happening but sure, why the hell not" look. It's adorable.
Not for nothing, the Kris Kristofferson/Rita Coolidge episode of The Muppet Show is pretty darn solid. Kris makes out with Piggy (twice), Gonzo lifts a piano, Rita sings "We're All Alone" to woodland creatures, Floyd goes Billy Joel, Sam the Eagle sings. I mean, come on.
I'll go to my grave insisting it happened, even if it didn't.
As people pay well-deserved tribute to Kris Kristofferson's musical gifts & personal integrity, let us not neglect how freaking fine he looked as Ellen Burstyn's rancher love interest in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.
Great (and short) article about two people I LOVE. Thank you and RIP to both of them. americansongwriter.com/remember-whe...
Within two years of releasing "Don’t Let the Bastards (Get You Down)” in 1990, it became an important catchphrase for Kris Kristofferson.
