I think a lot of us sensed when Trump won the nomination in 2016 that his antics might lead to the destruction of the Republican party. And it seems that may be the case. But the schism was not between MAGA and regular Republicans, because those old-school Republicans left the building long ago.

Instead the schism is between MAGA vs ultra-MAGA, where MAGA is a far right party, and ultra-MAGA are openly fascists.
