It’s a cliché to use a cliché to say don’t use clichés, BUT avoid clichés like the plague. They flow so easily that it’s hard to notice them, especially when you’re working fast. That’s one thing a good editor is good for – to de-cliché your writing to make it more precise and fresh. (6/n)
