A woman collided with a road and died. *Taps earpiece* I’m sorry, I’m told that she and her two dogs were out on a walk and a guy hit them with his motor vehicle. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024...
As an American It’s depressing to see this in non American media. We like to think things are better elsewhere RE:holding drivers accountable.
It reminds me of the language used in headlines when NHL player Johnny Gaudreau was riding his bike and was killed by a drunk driver. Mainstream headlines kept calling it a bike accident. WRONG!! Not a bike accident
Headlines often infuriate me. I used to blame the sub-editors (sub-oddities one called himself). Now I've decided to blame AI.
This has to stop. Editors/journalists please use language responsible. It's not the road, it's not the motor vehicle; it is people who drive powerful machines that can destroy lives. Drivers may feel safe and comfortable in their "rolling capsules" and forget that speed and mass can kill.
This is literally a WTF! in Scotland there is more than enough road to be safe! and there is no rush (thank god isn't New York, Toronto or Mexico City ).
