Hearing students talk about the mathematics gives us so much real data about what they really know, though. A little time here makes for better focus on some teaching later. It’s a balance, for sure, but one worth figuring out. #ElemMathChat

And it's hard to not "tell" to save time...but what they DO know already about Topic X is more important than what you want them to know. It all has to tie together, and connect to ideas they already have. But you have to trust the process. #ElemMathChat
