The object of copyright, as I understand it, is to encourage art by ensuring the artist gets the financial benefit for some time. It was originally, I think, 25 years.Now, if you live to 80, you, your children, grandchildren, great grandchildren get the benefit - of having you as an ancestor.

How is this different from any other kind of hereditary wealth? And what is the justification for copyrights on the thousands of works that can't be bought anywhere because nobody is interested in selling them? If I want to download music I cannot buy anywhere, why is it copyright protected?
