Oh sorry, I moved accounts some time ago. My main now is here: social.wedistribute.org/@deadsuperheroYouTube.com video URL work? I've never actually tried the shortlink before.
It's more civil than expected, but it feels difficult to get through to him. Telling him not to be so quick to filter out and block dissenting voices turned into a weird diatribe about how creepy it is for me to tell him to unblock people.
Fuck you!
The conversation has been mostly civil, it's just a headache to dig into things. I feel like he's not picking up what I'm putting down, and as such a big public figure with a lot of influence... that's worrying.
To be somewhat fair, the community and implementers are not all unilaterally like this. There are some really amazing people on the ground floor doing creative, thought-provoking, interesting work. It's just that our biggest spokesperson is leaning into his worst tendencies. It's really bad.
WTF, a GameBoy AGI runtime?! This is wild!
After today's Social Web Foundation events, I've decided to write something on my blog. It does not feel good.
An idiot (Sean Tilley) talks about his feelings regarding the new Social Web Foundation. He's probably wrong, and you should flame him.
Fun fact: Diaspora Inc is still around, and doing very well for itself. It does not own anything related to the social networking project anymore, but it does run one very popular product in the crowdfunding space. Diaspora Inc and its employees operate BackerKit.com!
So, Diaspora did get into Y Combinator, but it was very late stage. Technically, the company did get funding, but it's a comparatively small amount of about $250k in "runway" funds, intended as a reserve if things got bad at the company.
It's only through a love for others and a spirit of generosity that we can make life tolerable. At the end of your life, you only have the relationships you’ve forged, the decisions you’ve taken, and the memories you’ve made. Those are more valuable than your job, your career, or your money.
