I have noticed a similar thing in the united states as well. Restoration costs are often dependent on recreation, or hunting, in wildlife areas. I wonder how it impacts the human-nature relationship for both the animals and non-hunters

I'm not sure if timber harvest in flooded lands (no drainage) is doable with forestry machinery, but if so, yes, that would be a better alternative. Also, larger buffers between logging sites and open water, selective harvest, and species diversification! Thanks for your comment ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿงช Northern freshwater is turning brown from elevated organic carbon + iron. Peatland drainage (for forestry ๐ŸŒฒ) and climate change are impacting water quality, recreation ๐ŸŠ, and water treatment costs ๐Ÿ’ฐ. BUT sustainable forest management can combat this issue! Photo of a camelid by Chris Stenger on Unsplash. Camelids are returning to the Argentine Andes ๐ŸŒ„ as livestock farming ๐Ÿฎ gets more efficient. BUT their return has not resulted in immediate expected changes in biodiversity ๐Ÿค”. What other ways should we measure rewildling success? #scicomm
