This reminds me of that horrible "trap" in the original Tomb of Horrors, where you are faced with two doorways full of opaque black magic. One teleports you to the next area, the other is a sphere of annihilation (instant disintegration), and there was almost no way to tell which was which.

That sounds nuts. I haven’t even heard of Tomb of Horrors. I’ll have to check it out!
