Based on the previews I hope people watch it. In normal times, public health quietly does important work, keeping everyone safe with few resources. During the pandemic, we leaned on it hard to do the extraordinary. Then came the backlash from the public and politicians.

We can certainly reduce the number of situations where police are necessary but not eliminate them, and some departments could do with way less staffing. However, the unique problems with county budgets have put sheriff department staffing levels near the bottom in the US.
There's not much measurable reduction in overall crime since, by nature, they respond to it, but they can help reduce escalation. It gets dangerous for everyone when there's not enough of them to respond to emergencies.
