I really want people to understand that this is just as awful and upsetting and invasive for a trans girl as it would be for a cis girl under the same scrutiny. Because when it happens to cis girls/women people get upset, but when it’s an actual trans girl somehow it’s “complicated.” It’s not.

And I don't love arguments that rely on self-interest, b/c we're all human and we all deserve respect and safety no matter what. But if you need a reminder, none of us is safe unless all of us are safe. Literally any person or group can be scapegoated. When you protect others, you protect yourself.

As an Asian American who went to therapy for the first time during the 2021 wave of anti-Asian violence, I know how it feels to be targeted. Please stand up for whoever's being scapegoated today - trans people, Haitians, immigrants, EVERYONE. We are all in this together.

also, i am fascinated by how conservatives across the board have simply given up on the idea that people can be persuaded. seems commensurate with the return of scientific racism to mainstream circles. people are simply inherently one thing or another according to whatever group they were born into
