From this perspective, it's not authoritarian oversight that's missing. In fact, that would be detrimental to scientific autonomy. Viewing autonomy as bad and the primary cause of fraud is a paranoid, pessimistic, and defensive frame I cannot get behind. 5/N

Nothing good comes out of fear-based social systems in my belief. We need to work on rebuilding trust instead. And for that we first need to believe every academic is capable of doing better science and focus on building a strong, inclusive, diverse comnunity. 6/6
