For sure. I don't think I have all the answers. Just a general perspective that's different from the one I read about. But we can search for the solutions if we agree on the problem. It'll be hard but not impossible. I think it'll have to be bottom up still. We change our ways, the system changes.

I think so, but it’s damn hard. I’ve tried to use innovative processes in grant proposals but the reviewing process strongly selects for “conservative”/“traditional” approaches — especially for big funds. So paradoxical that a major brake on research innovation is that selection process.
