I know a fair few folks involved in game development follow me, so here's some advice: If you're ever thinking "Does my turn-based JRPG-styled game need any kind of platforming elements?" the answer is always and forever: NO DON'T DO THAT
Including platforming elements in games not designed around it is usually a terrible idea anyway. I flash back to all of the horrible platforming sections in FPS games with weighty movement, poor air control, and short jumps not suiting it well at all
Flashbacks to the Tower of Babel in Xenogears..
This post may or may not be inspired by an upcoming JRPG I have less than a week to play and review lol
Duly noted. But I also hate that shit, so I wouldn't have done it anyway.
Although it's not turn based I am Staring Pointedly at Astral Chain
Platforming is generally the worst thing to add into games that aren't: 1) platformers. 2) exploration-themed 3) *some* puzzlers
Noted. I choose to ignore this advice.
what about my turn based platformer
If this is about Infinity Nikki you are wrong, but go on.
They do however need block pushing and ice sliding puzzles
