And this is why I’ve never been able to use these scales. Pure numbers are so subjective! Words are closer to parity, though my 5 and Katrina’s 5 using this table would absolutely still be different levels of pain.

The one they gave me had words as well but was a lot vaguer—and the other problem was that I have a pretty vivid imagination and had/have been lucky enough to never hit the top of any scale, so using my imagined 10 at the top might have skewed the rest.
