Thinking about Megalopolis and I think it's a misread to see Cesar as an uncritical self-insert for Coppola—the film draws a clear line from Cesar's razing of slums to the rise of fascism in the city, e.g. (I'd dispute the film's depiction of the masses as easily swayed suckers but that's different)

(Irrespective of whether the film is good or bad or in between, the last movie I saw before Megalopolis that was as interesting to think about days afterward was Tár, so there's something there)
